Kirk Solo


Kirk Solo’s consulting work has spanned a wide range of industries and has included both strategy formulation and implementation work.  Much of his career has been spent consulting for Chief Officers of Fortune 500 companies.  Kirk has worked with the senior executives of such companies as General Motors, AXA Financial, Harcourt Inc. and Smith Kline Beecham.

Kirk started his career as a consultant for The Planning Technologies Group, a McKinsey spin-off that focused on long range planning and financial forecasting.  While with PTG Kirk helped develop long range forecasts and strategic plans for Viacom, Lotus Development Corp., Smith Kline Beecham, and Bristol-Myers Squibb. 

Upon completion of his MBA at MIT’s Sloan School of Management, Kirk joined Deloitte & Touche as a Senior Consultant in their information technology strategy practice.  During his tenure with Deloitte, Kirk designed and implemented IT strategies for the publishing and retail empire of Harcourt Inc., individually consulting with the Chief Officers of over 14 subsidiaries during the formulation of an integrated IT strategy and implementation plan.

Kirk later joined DiamondCluster Intl. (f.k.a. Diamond Technology Partners) as a Senior Associate, and quickly rose to the level of Principal.  While at Diamond, Kirk successfully managed a large implementation project for AXA Financial that involved direct management of a staff of over 40 consultants and client employees.

Kirk founded and managed SimNexus LLC, a business dynamics simulation modeling consultancy where he developed an extensive toolbox of business analysis approaches.  He was most recently engaged by General Motors for marketing strategy analysis.  

 Kirk holds a BA in Economics magna cum laude from The Colorado College, and an MBA from MIT’s Sloan School of Management.  He was selected (1 out of 40 nationwide) as a Chicago Business Fellow by the University of Chicago’s Graduate School of Business.
